| The Jeep Compass brings traditional Jeep styling and capabilities to another car platform. The 2007 Jeep Compass is an all-new compact SUV that combines the versatility of a sport-utility vehicle with the fuel economy and handling of a compact car. Jeep's first small car-based SUV shares its platform with the Dodge Caliber and the new Jeep Patriot. The Compass is designed more for on-road comfort rather than off-road capability. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is optional.
For 2007, the Jeep Compass is equipped with a 172-hp, 2.4L engine, that teams up with a 5-speed manual transmission or automatic. The Compass is Jeep’s first front-wheel-drive-based product with a fully independent suspension for comfortable on-road ride and handling and fun-to-drive characteristics. Close rivals in the segment include the Scion xA, Volkswagen Golf, Suzuki Aerio SX, Kia Rio5 and the Subaru Impreza Wagon.
The Jeep Compass is available in Sport and Limited versions with D and E Packages in four or two wheel-drive modes.
