Mercedes Benz CLK-Class: Class-leading style and performance
The CLK Class makes up Mercedes-Benz’s lineup of coupes and convertibles, embracing a racy style and free spirit. First introduced in 1997, the CLK line was designed to take on the competition in the luxury coupe market. The CLK320 Cabriolet and the V8-powered CLK430 Coupe debuted in 1999. Subsequent redesigns included the first production V6 engine, aggressive styling cues from the E-Class and chassis components from the C-Class.

For 2007, the 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class adds the CLK550 replacing the CLK500 and a high-performance CLK63 AMG replaces the CLK55 AMG as new models to the lineup. The CLK63 AMG wears 18-inch wheels, sport suspension and compound brakes. The Mercedes Benz CLK compares favorably in terms of fuel economy 19/28 mpg (city/highway). Two-door CLK-Class is available in both coupe and convertible body styles.

Available trims are the CLK350 and the CLK550 coupes; the CLK350, the CLK550 and the CLK63 AMG cabriolets. The CLK models differ in their levels of performance but are similarly equipped.

Impressive power from V6 and V8
 
The CLK350 coupe and cabriolet are equipped with a 268-horsepower (hp), 3.5-liter (L) V6. Power is transferred through a new 7-speed automatic transmission (electronically controlled).

The CLK550 coupe and cabriolet are powered by a 382 hp, 5.5L V8 engine coupled with a 7-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. EPA mileage ratings are 16/23 mpg (city/highway).

The CLK63 AMG cabriolet receives a 5.5L, 475-hp V8 engine, fitted with an AMG-enhanced 7-speed Speedshift automatic (AMG SpeedShift programming provides up to 50 percent faster gear changes) with Formula 1-style paddles on back of the steering wheel spokes. EPA estimates rate mileage at around 13/20 mpg (city/highway) on the AMG. The AMG version accelerates from zero - 60 mph in just over 4.5 seconds.

 
Elegant and streamlined looks
Coupe or convertible, the CLK350 has a sweeping beltline that gives the car its’ streamlined, feline looks and elegant curvy profile. The CLK550 Coupe is sleek and pillar less; the streamlined design hints at the cars’ powerful performance; rear windows recede fully, adding to the open, airy feeling. A low, wide grille sports the Mercedes-Benz's three-pointed star. An elliptical shaped headlight unit sits on either side of the grille. The CLK63 AMG features an aggressive front air dam, side skirts and rear apron. The CLK350 and CLK550 wear five-spoke 17-inch tires; the CLK63 AMG rides on double- spoke 18-inch wheels; the CLK550 cabriolet sports a fully automatic power soft top, AMG-designed sculpted front air dam, side skirts, rear apron and spoiler.

Standard features on all CLK models include a compact spare tire, halogen headlamps, fog lights, intermittent rain detecting wipers, glass sunroof; chrome bumper inserts, chrome grille, power trunk/hatch/door, power windows, chrome tip exhaust; smart key remote, garage door transmitter, key fob trunk/hatch/door and rear window defroster.

Options include a sport suspension, bi-xenon headlights, rear-parking sensors, and Keyless Go (starts the car without a key). A new Sport package is available on the CLK350 and CLK550 that features 10-spoke 17-inch wheels, shorter springs, sport-tuned shocks, perforated brake discs, brake calipers, black ash wood interior trim, black carpets and sporty white gauges.

 
Luxurious, fully loaded cabin
 
The CLK models come fully loaded with a luxurious, well-equipped cabin. Each car seats four passengers; seats come with premium leather-upholstery; the rear seat splits and folds. The CLK550 features rich wood trim, four individual seats, contoured and finished in hand-fitted leather, well-appointed accommodations and advanced safety systems.

Standard features on all models include 10-way power front seats, a power tilt-steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The cockpit has chrome and wood interior accents, a Tele Aid assistance system, air conditioning, a leather/chrome shift knob and steering wheel; 6-speaker AM/FM/ CD player, steering-wheel mounted audio controls, and a trip computer. Cup holders, a floor storage console, door bins, seatback storage pockets, instrument-panel bin, 112v power outlet and ashtray also come standard.

Other conveniences include an easy-entry system that makes getting in and out easier. In the coupe, the rear seat folds down completely making it easier to load cargo in the trunk. The convertible features large side windows and a slim roof design that is easily lowered or raised at the press of a button.

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class offers quick acceleration, confident handling and feels more agile than the CL-Class. The V8-powered CLK550 Cabriolet offers flawless driving dynamics. The automatic transmission responds with seamless shifts; controlled suspension ensures a comfortable ride.

Plenty of standard safety features
Standard safety features include driver and passenger front-impact airbags, door-mounted driver airbags, passenger side-impact airbags, curtain overhead airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, side-impact bars, panic alarm and power adjustable head restraints.

Mercedes' Electronic Stability Program, ABS with Brake Assist technology, daytime running lights, and driveline traction control enhance driving stability and safety.
